The Following Statement Has Been Released by Denali Advanced Integration
Columbia Sportswear and Denali Advanced Integration have resolved their dispute regarding a cybersecurity breach at Columbia.
Columbia and Denali released the following joint statement:
“Columbia and Denali have resolved all disputes between them. The terms of the settlement are confidential. The parties acknowledge that the investigation into this matter has yielded no evidence that anyone other than Michael Leeper, a rogue employee, committed the hacking, no other Denali employee had improper access to Columbia’s systems, and no other Denali employee encouraged or directed Leeper’s misconduct.”
In addition, Hartford Fire Insurance Co. has agreed to dismiss its claims against Denali.
Last August, Leeper pled guilty to a felony charge of computer fraud that did not name Denali. The U.S. Attorney’s office had filed the criminal lawsuit solely against Leeper after an exhaustive investigation of Leeper and Denali by the FBI and the Department of Justice. No charges were brought against Denali, which had fully cooperated with the probe from the moment the hacking became known.
“All of this confirms what we have asserted all along,” said Denali CEO Majdi Daher. “Denali played no role in – nor benefited from – Leeper’s violation. We take pride in our integrity. We do not condone unfair business practices, and we will not tolerate illegal conduct.”
This lone person’s misconduct shines a spotlight on how vulnerable organizations can be to cyberattack.
“The cybersecurity breach at Columbia has taught us a lot about how one person’s atrocious acts can devastate a company’s security and intellectual property,” Daher said. “That means Denali is working with customers in an even more profound way to ensure that they have the right systems, policies and practices in place to stay safe.”
Denali’s priority continues to be the safety and success of its customers. Denali has been among the most trusted and prominent technology providers in the Pacific Northwest for more than 25 years because of its care and dedication to putting customer needs first. Denali will continue to support its customers with best-in-class IT solutions while providing a superior work environment for its employees.
